We are very excited to announce our new studio share program, open only to a very small group of local photographers of all kinds.

What is this all about?

We are looking to transition our studio into a shared space by a small exclusive group of photographers, rather than being open to public rentals. I decided to do things this way so we can trust that the space will stay in good shape, feel comfortable leaving props/backdrops there, and even have occasional lunches and meet-ups where everyone can share what’s working for them, what’s not working for them, how we can change it to better suit everyone’s needs, etc. It is our goal for this to be a place that’s beneficial to every member’s individual business.

Up until now, we’ve rented our studio in only 4 or 8 hour blocks of time. The half and full day rentals are fantastic every now and then, but the costs can add up quickly if you need regular use of the space. With our share program, you’ll enjoy use of the studio for small or large blocks of time, including equipment, for one monthly fee.

Why does this make economic sense?

The rental rate for photo studios in Knoxville runs upwards of $150 for a half day. For photographers needing flexible hours for shooting and for viewing proofs, a studio residency can create savings in as few as 3 clients per month. The finished studio setup also allows you efficiently manage your time and resources by spending more time on shooting and selling, and less time on equipment transportation, set-up, tear-down, and maintenance. It’s there when you need it – you just show up and shoot.

How will this help your business?

Your clients want flexibility when it comes to scheduling sessions, and oftentimes the cost of renting a location results in photographers needing to host ‘marathons’ or a day of mini-shoots in order to accommodate as many people as possible under a single rental fee.   As a resident of our studio, you’ll be able to schedule single shoots that work for you and your client, eliminating the need for rushed, multi-client days. Also, you will be able to invite your clients back to view their images on a 58″ plasma screen in a beautiful meeting area, allowing you to preview potential print purchases at actual size.

Why is our location fabulous?

For clients who want several different looks during one shoot, our studio offers the convenience of being situated right in the middle of the Market Square/Gay Street area, as well as being a short walk away from Old City. No need to drive between locations to have both studio and outdoor options for your customers.

What is included in the resident program?

-Private historic Market Square setting with key access to building and studio
-Access to shared calendar for easy reservation of the space
-Optional educational sessions on use of studio equipment and proof viewing tips to make the most of client experience and increase your sales
-Limited storage for albums and prints, as well as wall space for a large print with watermark or small logo plaque
-Large windows with abundant midday natural light and blackout privacy blinds
-Original brick walls and wood flooring
-Access to all equipment in studio, incl props, lights, modifiers, etc
-Access to meeting area with stereo and 58” TV ready for laptop use (VGA and HDMI)
-Private dressing area, vanity, and bathroom (hair/makeup artists love our studio!)
-Assortment of cloth backdrops on track system for rapid change-outs. Own backdrops may be added to track system as space allows
-9′ white seamless paper
-Natural grey wall surface

We are allowing new residents to submit backdrop/furnishing requests based on their individual needs at time of sign up and we will implement new options over time.
