Emily and Cheles are getting married THIS WEEKEND! They chose to go downtown for their engagement session. We had a lot of fun!

The photos speak for themselves – these guys are so playful and fun! We just photographed their wedding a couple of weeks ago at the stunning Castleton Farms, and I knew when we photographed their engagement session that the wedding would be a wonderful day (and it was – stay tuned for photos!)

Lisa and Howell are getting married on October 30th, and in my book that makes them a couple of smart cookies. The temperature should be wonderful for their ceremony, with maybe a slight nip to the air. We all know that October and November are my two favorite months in the year to photograph, so I can’t wait! On top of that, they are just wonderful to be around. Sweet, soft spoken, and undeniably in love, it’s a pleasure to work with them.

Did you know that you can rent the Tennessee Theatre by the hour for your portrait session? You can, and that’s just what Laura & Ken chose to do for their post-wedding engagement session! Having such a beautiful venue all to ourselves was like being a kid in a candy store. Also, being in an air-conditioned space when most of our engagement sessions are outside in the 400 degree weather completely spoiled me. Taking photos without dripping with sweat?? Unheard of!!

Lighting this session was tedious at best, maddening at worst, but absolutely worth the effort. Laura & Ken had an endless amount of patience with us as each new shot had to be lit from scratch. I’m so excited about the outcome, and here are some of my faves!

My favorite kind of light – shooting directly into the late afternoon sun. Gauzy, warm, and wonderful. No clouds allowed!

I’m attempting to have the blog up to date by the time wedding season officially starts, so I’m condensing a few engagement sessions over the next several blogs!

This is Carolyn & Lee, and since they are from out of town, we shot their engagement session the day after the wedding!

Cathy & Jeb are definitely on top of their wedding plans – they are getting married in Spring 2011! I envy their patience.. Matt and I were engaged for 8 months and even that felt like an eternity!

We met up with them back in the fall when the color was still exploding for their engagement session. We’ll be doing a bridal session with Cathy a bit closer to her wedding, which makes her one of my new best friends, since everyone knows that bridals are my favorite type of portrait session!

The clouds did break up at the end of the session, which was greatly appreciated. It seems like 2009 (and 2010 so far) has been the year of dreary overcast skies, or flat out rainy (sometimes SNOWY!) weather. I’m hoping to see Mr. Sunshine quite a bit more in the upcoming wedding season.

Rob and Sally are truly two of the classiest and friendliest people you’ll ever meet. I know I brag on everyone that we work with – maybe we are just super lucky – but we really do have the best clients!! Love these two!
